1. Information We Collect
Grammar Check - GrammarMe is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal information necessary to provide our services:
- Text you submit for grammar checking and processing (sent to AI for analysis, not permanently stored on our servers)
- Documents and images you scan for text extraction (processed locally and via AI, not stored)
- Correction history (stored locally on your device)
- Usage analytics to improve the app (anonymized)
2. Custom Keyboard Extension & Full Access
GrammarMe includes an optional custom keyboard extension that provides grammar checking, rewriting, enhancing, and translation directly within any app on your device.
Why Full Access Is Required
The keyboard requests "Allow Full Access" in order to communicate with our AI service over the network. Without Full Access, the keyboard cannot send text for AI processing and will not function. Full Access is an iOS permission that you grant in Settings > General > Keyboard.
What the Keyboard Accesses
- Text you explicitly select or have in the active text field — the keyboard reads text from the current text field only when you tap the "Process" button. It does not read text automatically or in the background.
- No keystroke logging — the keyboard does not record, store, or transmit individual keystrokes. It only processes text when you explicitly request it.
- No access to other apps' data — the keyboard can only read text from the currently active text field via Apple's standard UITextDocumentProxy API.
How Text Is Processed
- When you tap "Process," the selected text (up to 2,000 characters) is sent securely over HTTPS to our proxy service, which forwards it to the Anthropic Claude API for processing.
- The AI response is displayed in the keyboard interface for your review.
- You choose whether to accept, copy, or dismiss the result.
- Processed text is not stored on our servers or on your device after the session ends.
Data Shared Between App and Keyboard
The main app and keyboard extension share the following via a secure App Group container on your device:
- Subscription status (to determine free or premium access)
- Usage counters (to enforce free tier limits, stored locally only)
- User preferences (theme, haptic feedback settings)
No text content, correction history, or personal data is shared between the app and keyboard.
3. How We Use Your Information

4. Data Storage & Security
Your privacy is important to us:
- All correction history and preferences are stored locally on your device using SwiftData
- Text submitted for AI processing is transmitted securely via HTTPS and not permanently stored
- The keyboard extension does not store any text you process
- We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties
- All data transmission uses industry-standard encryption
